Important Notes Before Travel

Before your departure, please consider the following

  • To enter Uganda you MUST have a vaccination certificate for yellow fever. Please note that the supply of yellow fever vaccine is currently low in North America; if you are even considering attending the conference consider getting your vaccine as soon as possible.
  • Please visit and determine if you need a visa or additional documentation to enter the country.
  • Letters of invitation to complete your application will be processed by NaFIRRI. Attendees need to send an email to Alice Endra <> and copy to the NaFIRRI Director <>.  An administrative assistant will email you the letter of invitation within 2-4 business days.
  • Uganda business etiquette requires conservative/culturally appropriate attire. Please plan to wear conventional business attire (i.e. button down shirt/dress slacks/jacket for men; suit, skirt or dress (at or below knee), or dress pants for women) to the conference and events. Field trips allow for more informal attire.
  • Remember to bring items for the Guin Auction (items such as chocolates, sweets, unique books, souvenirs from your institution or country, are always very popular).
  • Wireless access will be provided in hotel rooms and the conference room.
  • Please prepare for the Business Meeting by reading the Minutes from the 2017 Conference and any other reports that have been published on the IAMSLIC website.
