Can&#8217;t believe the conference is only two weeks away!! We&#8217;re going to have to ramp up production on these speaker blogs and start delivering you a daily digest.<\/p>\n<p>So without further ado, let me introudce our next speaker\u00c2\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000\">Sara Yusta Manterola<\/span>. Sara co-authored her paper with\u00c2\u00a0Ximena Silva Guerrero, unfortunately Ximena cannot attend the conference.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-785\" src=\"http:\/\/www.iamslic.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Sara-Yusta-Manterola-211x300.jpg\" alt=\"SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA\" width=\"236\" height=\"336\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.iamslic.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Sara-Yusta-Manterola-211x300.jpg 211w, https:\/\/www.iamslic.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Sara-Yusta-Manterola.jpg 641w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 236px) 100vw, 236px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">Sara Yusta Manterola<\/span>\u00c2\u00a0is a librarian at the University of Magallanes in Chile. Throughout her career she has worked mainly in university libraries in Chile. She has worked in all areas of information management.<\/p>\n<p>Sara began her\u00c2\u00a0career at the University of La Serena, where she supported the formation of the database of the Study Center dedicated to Gabriela Mistral (1990-1994).\u00c2\u00a0At the University of Magallanes, she worked between 1994 and 2005 in charge of the automation of libraries, and subsequent implementation of open shelving and developing projects of improvement of building, collection and services.<br \/>\nBetween 2005 and 2009, she served in a private university in Temuco. Later, between 2009 and 2014, she was Head of the Library System of the Catholic University of Temuco.<\/p>\n<p>In April 2014 she returned to the University of Magallanes, where she started working with the team lead by Ximena Silva, who was developing Aike Digital Library and Gaia Antarctic Digital Repository (GAIA ANTARTICA)\u00c2\u00a0One of her career goals is to have the opportunity to make a difference in university libraries, helping students and teachers to improve their knowledge, through information and communication technologies.<br \/>\nA training highlight for Sara has been engageing in a two-week internship in the libraries of the University of Toronto, along with 30 Chilean librarians. Following that, Sara attended a seminar at Harvard University, sponsored by LASPAU and Harvard College Library (2002).<\/p>\n<p>Sara moved cities due to the transfer of her husband. <span style=\"color: #ff0000\">Come talk to Sara at Iamslic, she is a family lady and has 3 children and two grandchildren, and as a family they are sports fans. Her biggest hobby is knitting; crocheting or two needles. She also dances in\u00c2\u00a0a folk dance group<\/span>. <span style=\"color: #ff0000\">So lots to talk to Sara about at Iamslic, as well as her interesting library career.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Bibliotecaria, ha ejercido principalmente en bibliotecas universitarias en Chile.Se ha desempe\u00c3\u00b1ado en todas las \u00c3\u00a1reas de una unidad de informaci\u00c3\u00b3n.<\/p>\n<p>Inici\u00c3\u00b3 su carrera profesional en la Universidad de La Serena, donde apoy\u00c3\u00b3 en la formaci\u00c3\u00b3n de la base de datos del Centro de Estudios dedicado a Gabriela Mistral (1990-1994).<br \/>\nEn la Universidad de Magallanes, trabaj\u00c3\u00b3 entre 1994 y 2005 a cargo del proceso de automatizaci\u00c3\u00b3n de las bibliotecas, y posteriormente en la implementaci\u00c3\u00b3n de la estanter\u00c3\u00ada abierta y la elaboraci\u00c3\u00b3n de proyectos de mejoramiento del edificio, la colecci\u00c3\u00b3n y los servicios.<br \/>\nEntre el 2005 y el 2009, se desempe\u00c3\u00b1o en una universidad privada en Temuco, para posteriormente, entre el 2009 y el 2014, hacerse cargo de la Direcci\u00c3\u00b3n del Sistema de Bibliotecas de la Universidad Cat\u00c3\u00b3lica de Temuco.<br \/>\nA partir de abril de 2014, regresa a la Universidad de Magallanes, donde se integra al equipo que lidera Ximena Silva, quien desarrolla la Biblioteca Digital Aike y el Repositorio Digital Gaia Ant\u00c3\u00a1rtica.<br \/>\nUna de sus metas profesionales es tener la oportunidad de establecer una diferencia en las bibliotecas universitarias, ayudando a alumnos y docentes a mejorar sus conocimientos, a trav\u00c3\u00a9s de las tecnolog\u00c3\u00adas de informaci\u00c3\u00b3n y comunicaci\u00c3\u00b3n.<br \/>\nDentro de su formaci\u00c3\u00b3n destaca especialmente la pasant\u00c3\u00ada de dos semanas en las bibliotecas de la Universidad de Toronto, junto a 30 bibliotecarios chilenos. Posterior a eso asistieron a un Seminario en Harvard University, auspiciado por Laspau y Harvard College Library (2002).<\/p>\n<p>Los cambios de ciudad se deben a traslados de su marido.Tiene 3 hijos y dos nietos, y como familia son fan\u00c3\u00a1ticos de los deportes. After her graduation she started working in public libraries of the Libraries, Archives and Museums Direction. Since 1998 she has worked at the Universidad de Magallanes in Punta Arenas, where she has served as Head of the Documentation Center of the Institute of Patagonia; Project Director MECESUP &#8220;Reinventing the Library as a Learning Space&#8221;.\u00c2\u00a0Nowadays she is head reference librarian and coordinator for the information literacy program and digital plataforms \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Aike Digital Library of Patagonia\u00e2\u20ac\u009d and \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Gaia Digital Repository Antarctica\u00e2\u20ac\u009d.\u00c2\u00a0As part of her training she has completed diplomas in: Management Directive; University Management; and University Teaching. She is a member of IAMSLIC and Information Management Group in Marine Sciences (GT- GIM) of the National Oceanographic Committee (CONA).<\/p>\n<p>Ximena\u00c2\u00a0is married and has 2 sons. In November she will become a grandmother for the first time, and for this reason she will not be able to attend the IAMSLIC conference, to share and personally present the work of her unit \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Gaia Antarctic Digital Repository: management and dissemination of Antarctic knowledge\u00e2\u20ac\u009d.\u00c2\u00a0She invites her colleagues present at IAMSLIC to share any questions by email regarding the work.<br \/>\nBibliotecaria titulada de la Universidad de Chile. Los primeros a\u00c3\u00b1os profesionales los desarroll\u00c3\u00b3 en bibliotecas p\u00c3\u00bablicas pertenecientes a la Direcci\u00c3\u00b3n de Bibliotecas, Archivos y Museos (DIBAM).\u00c2\u00a0Desde el a\u00c3\u00b1o 1998 trabaja en la Universidad de Magallanes en la ciudad de Punta Arenas. En que se ha desempe\u00c3\u00b1ado como Jefe del Centro de Documentaci\u00c3\u00b3n del Instituto de la Patagonia; Directora del Proyecto MECESUP \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Reinventando la Biblioteca como un Espacio de Aprendizaje\u00e2\u20ac\u009d. \u00c2\u00a0Las responsabilidades actuales son de bibliotecaria de referencia; coordinadora del programa de alfabetizaci\u00c3\u00b3n para la informaci\u00c3\u00b3n; coordinadora de las plataformas digitales \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Aike Biblioteca Digital de la Patagonia\u00e2\u20ac\u009d y \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Repositorio Digital Gaia Ant\u00c3\u00a1rtica\u00e2\u20ac\u009d.\u00c2\u00a0Como parte de su formaci\u00c3\u00b3n ha cursado los Diplomas en: Gesti\u00c3\u00b3n Directiva; Gesti\u00c3\u00b3n Universitaria; Docencia Universitaria.Desde el a\u00c3\u00b1o 2004 es miembro de IAMSLIC y del Grupo de Gesti\u00c3\u00b3n de Informaci\u00c3\u00b3n en Ciencias del Mar (GT-GIM) del Comit\u00c3\u00a9 Oceanogr\u00c3\u00a1fico Nacional (CONA).<\/p>\n<p>Est\u00c3\u00a1 casada, tiene 2 hijos. En noviembre ser\u00c3\u00a1 abuela por primera vez, hecho relevante y significativo que la tiene muy feliz, pero que a la vez le impide estar presente en el Congreso IAMSLIC , como era su gran deseo y as\u00c3\u00ad tener la oportunidad de compartir y presentar personalmente el trabajo de la ponencia.\u00c2\u00a0Esto no impide que los colegas y miembros presentes en IAMSLIC si desean hacer consultas lo puedan hacer por correo electr\u00c3\u00b3nico.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">Title<\/span>:\u00c2\u00a0Gaia Antarctic Digital Repository: management and dissemination of Antarctic knowledge<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ff0000\">Abstract<\/span>: The experience of creating a specialized subject repository &#8220;Gaia Antarctic Digital Repository\u00e2\u20ac\u009d is described. Born in the context of the Convenio de Desempe\u00c3\u00b1o MINEDUC-MAG 1203 \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Gaia Ant\u00c3\u00a1rtica: Conocimiento y Cultura Ant\u00c3\u00a1rtica\u00e2\u20ac\u009d and the collaborative partnership of the Universidad de Magallanes (Umag) with higher education and research institutions that contribute to the knowledge of the Antarctic Continent. Its purpose is to develop a single digital platform to collect, preserve and disseminate scientific, academic and disclosure information about the Antarctic and Antarctic polar areas. It emphasizes partnerships with national universities: @umagallanes\u00c2\u00a0and institutions of research and dissemination of Antarctic knowledge. Also, describes the process of selection of documents specifying the terms for scanning; the technical aspects of the selection and implementation of the management platform of digital objects; selection of open access software and the use of standard bibliographic description; and implementation of hardware and networking technologies.
