Inaugural Issue of Journal of Librarianship and Scholarly
\nCommunication Released!<\/p>\n
The inaugural issue of the Journal of Librarianship and Scholarly
\nCommunication (JLSC) is now available (http:\/\/jlsc-pub.org\/jlsc\/),
\nfeaturing open access, peer-reviewed research, about library-led
\nscholarly communication initiatives, online publishing and digital
\nprojects. Journal content is licensed under a Creative Commons
\nAttribution license. The journal is a not-for-profit endeavor,
\npublished by Pacific University Library. In support of open and
\nequitable opportunities for authors, JLSC does not charge article
\nsubmission or publication fees.<\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Because libraries are actively working to shape the scholarly
\ncommunication sphere, there was a need for this important work to be
\nspecifically represented in the literature. JLSC meets this need by
\nproviding a dedicated \u00e2\u20ac\u02dchome\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 for librarians to share their ideas about
\ninstitutional and digital repositories, open education initiatives,
\nlibrary e-publishing services, authors\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 rights advocacy efforts, data
\ncuration and other emerging issues,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d says editor Marisa Ramirez (Cal
\nPoly, San Luis Obispo).<\/p>\n
JLSC is open to experimental formats and innovative alternatives to
\nthe traditional publishing system.<\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153We welcome original research and practitioner experience papers, as
\nwell as submissions in alternative formats, like audio, video, code,
\ndatasets and other formats. To the extent possible, we also hope to
\nuse JLSC as a testbed to reflect emerging approaches in this field,
\nsuch as new forms of peer review and alternative metrics for measuring
\nimpact\u00e2\u20ac\u009d says Isaac Gilman (Pacific University), editor. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153As the roles
\nof libraries and librarians continue to evolve, JLSC will be the place
\nto learn about developments in scholarly communication,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d adds Gilman.<\/p>\n
Marisa Ramirez (Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo) and Isaac Gilman (Pacific
