The planning committee of the 41st Annual Conference of the International Association of Aquatic and Marine Science Libraries and Information Centers (IAMSLIC)  along with the European Regional Group of IAMSLIC (EURASLIC) invite you to join us in Rome, Italy, 7-11 September 2015.  The conference will be hosted  and co-sponsored by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

 

The FAO Global Initiative on Blue Growth (BGI) in Support of Food Security, Poverty Alleviation and the Sustainable Management of Aquatic Resources, defines “Blue Growth” asSustainable growth and development emanating from economic activities in the oceans, wetlands and coastal zones, that minimize environmental degradation, biodiversity loss and unsustainable use of living aquatic resources, and maximize economic and social benefits”.

Organized in cooperation with the Fisheries and Aquaculture Department of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the 41st Annual Conference of the International Association of Aquatic and Marine Science Libraries and Information Centers (IAMSLIC) will create a forum for discussion and exchange of knowledge and information on the Blue Growth Initiative as well as to share the best practices and innovative ideas in fisheries and aquatic information management.

The participants will have a great opportunity to learn from and discuss the Initiative with top-level FAO experts and invited speakers. The conference organizers are putting together an exciting program for the Special Session on Blue Growth.
