Sunday 14th September: Pre-Conference Outing – Tjibaou Cultural Centre

Designed by architect Renzo Piano, the Cultural centre sits in a peaceful woodland and mangrove setting on Tina Peninsula. Visit the centre to learn more about the Kanak (indigenous New Caledonian) people. Displays include sculpture, paintings and photographs representing Kanak  culture, as well as other cultures from around the Pacific. The main buildings are a series of tall, curved wooden structures which rise majestically above the trees. and behind the main building are traditional houses. Amenities include a multimedia library, theatre, shop and cafe.

 Tuesday 16th September: City Tour on Le Petite Train

For the young and young at heart, hop on Le Petite Train or commonly called the Tchou Tchou train, after lunch, to take a tour of the city of Noumea .  The Tchou Tchou train is a mini motorized train that will take you on a guided tour of the city and surrounding areas. The tour will take you through the city, through some of Noumea’s oldest neighbourhoods which still have old colonial homes,  and to a couple of lookout points where you get panaromic views of the blue lagoon and neighbouring islands as well as  nice views of the city.

 Friday 19th September: Post-Conference Outing – Amedee day trip

Just a few minutes from Noumea lies a little paradise;The Amedee lighthouse island where crystal -clear waters and beautiful white sandy beaches are waiting to welcome you to the Island. Just 24 km away from Noumea on the barrier reef, this natural protected marine reserve is one of the New Caledonia’s highlights.

The Amedee Daytrip includes:

Departure from la Baie de la Moselle at 8:30 am and return at 5 pm in summer season (return at 4.30 pm in winter season).
