Confluence of Ideas: Evolving to meet the challenges of global change

The 35th IAMSLIC Annual Conference & 13th Biennial EURASLIC Conference
September 27 – October 1, 2009
Brugge & Oostende, Belgium

Welcome! Welkom!

The joint 35th Annual IAMSLIC Conference & 13th Biennial EURASLIC Conference will be held 27th of September through the 1st of October in Brugge, Belgium.
The theme for this year’s conference is “Confluence of Ideas: Evolving to meet the challenges of global change”. In these economically trying times, global change has taken on an expanded meaning beyond climate change. The theme also touches on the theory of evolution since 2009 is the 150th anniversary of “On the Origin of Species” and the bicentennial of the birth of Charles Darwin. Possible topics may include adaptations which libraries have made to survive: innovative and customized services such as data publishing, data curation; involvement in cyberinfrastructure; collaborations; and marketing the library or information center. During this conference, we will also emphasize green practices.

Conference sessions will include panel discussions of current topics, research presentations, hands-on workshops, and a conference field trip. There will be many opportunities for networking with fellow marine and aquatic librarians from Europe and beyond.

Our hosts are the IOC/UNESCO Project Office for IODE and the Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ).
