IAMSLIC: Sustainability in a Changing Climate
The 34th Annual IAMSLIC Conference will be held September 14th – 18th in Suva, Fiji. The theme for this yearrs conference is Sustainability in a Changing Climate. This theme applies both to the physical climatic changes that are occurring worldwide, and to the climate we experience in our libraries and information centers. A joint PIMRIS (Pacific Islands Marine Resources Information System)/PIRG (Pacific Islands Regional Group) meeting will be held during the conference. Our host will be the University of the South Pacific in Suva. We will have use of the lecture hall on campus and access to e-mail at the university. A welcome reception is being planned for Sunday evening, September 14th, at the Holiday Inn in Suva. The reception will include a Fijian Welcome Ceremony. Conference sessions may include panel discussions of current topics, research presentations, hands-on workshops and a conference field trip. There are ample opportunities for networking and getting to know fellow marine and aquatic librarians. All IAMSLIC members are strongly encouraged to participate in the two general business meetings, as these are an important forum for both communication and decision-making. Our local hosts have wonderful suggestions for cultural and recreational activities should you have some extra time to spend in Fiji before or after the conference. We look forward to seeing you in Suva!
